The City of Dodge City Main Street Program is seeking a part-time Office Assistant (15-20 hours weekly). This position is responsible for providing office and event support to ensure Main Street Dodge City operations are maintained in an effective and accurate manner. This position reports to the Main Street Director.

Responsibilities include: greet and assist visitors, answer the phone, and general office & clerical work. Job requirements are: 6 months – 1 year office/clerical experience; ability to follow written and verbal directions in English; must be 18 years of age and possess a valid Kansas driver’s license with good driving record. Duties require lifting of between 25-30 lbs of material.

Position will work 15- 20 hours as scheduled per week. Starting rate of pay is $9 per hour, without benefits, as this is a temporary year round position.

This permanent, full-time position serves as Park Manager and is located at HorseThief Reservoir (Jetmore, KS). The incumbent provides direct coordination to operate HorseThief Reservoir as directed by the HorseThief Reservoir Board of Directors. Duties include but are not limited to; coordinating efforts to provide broad-based recreational opportunities, such as camping, water-based recreation, day use, special events, and programs; preparing annual budget; purchasing supplies and equipment; directing the sale of permits and licenses, includes the collection and accounting of funds received; planning and overseeing contracted work; supervising and coordinating the construction, maintenance and repair of area buildings, grounds, equipment, roads, ditches, shelters, beaches, boat ramps and utilities; interviewing, hiring, training and evaluating employees; enforcing rules, and regulations pertaining to the protection of park facilities and visitors; providing information regarding park rules, facilities, and area history; and planning special events, attending outdoor shows, become a member of KRPA, applying for grant opportunities, keeping friends and volunteer groups active, working directly Ford, Finney, Gray and Hodgeman county Economic Development; working with Kansas legislature, KDWPT personnel, local law enforcement, emergency management . Must work holidays and weekends–Memorial weekend, Independence Day weekend, Labor Day weekend and other days and weekends for events as required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Hiring Salary range $48,000- $54,000, DOQ; paid single health and life insurance; KPERS retirement; deferred holidays, compensatory time and sick/ vacation leave.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Two years of experience in directing operations relevant to the agency’s operations. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. A bachelor’s degree and work experience in wildlife or park operations are preferred. Applicants with demonstrated capabilities as an effective communicator who enjoy working with the general public, community programs, emergency management, and dedicated enthusiasm for long hours in a state park setting will be given preference. The successful candidate must pass a background check and must be a credible witness in court; must have the ability to travel on extended or overnight events and training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to become certified as a law enforcement officer by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission. The selected candidate must take and pass a State of Kansas Controlled Substance prior to appointment, and is subject to random testing for alcohol and controlled substances following employment. The selected candidate must obtain have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and the ability to obtain a Kansas Commercial Driver’s License and Water Systems Operator license prior to obtaining permanent status.

The City of Dodge City is accepting applications for part-time transportation bus drivers for Dodge City and Gray County Transit Service. Maintenance Worker I – Sanitation(new opening) – Position performs manual labor with loading all types of refuse collection, including chasing trash trucks. Work also includes maintaining trash trucks, trash karts and dumpsters, record keeping, working at recycle center, and other duties as assigned in the Public Works Department.

Salary range for this position is $11.44 – $17.69 per hour, with full-time benefit package including health insurance and KPERS retirement.  Starting rate of pay is $11.44 per hour, DOQ. Position works a minimum of 40 hours per week.

This job requires physical work including lifting and manipulating up to 75 lbs, and performing these duties in all types of weather. A valid Kansas driver’s license is required with good driving record, and must obtain a Class B CDL with air-brake endorsement within 6 months of hire for Sanitation position.
