The City of Dodge City is accepting applications for the two (2) full-time positions in the Utilities Dept.:                          

Maintenance Worker I, Utilities Dept. —Position is responsible for all repair, maintenance and minor construction of the water and sewer systems within the City of Dodge City. Duties will include but are not limited to installation of hydrants and services, repairs water lines, rods sewers, maintains chemical levels, cleans and maintains equipment, and meter reading. Position requires manual labor including lifting and manipulating up to 75 lbs primarily outdoors in all types of weather. Position has some interaction with the public, so good customer service skills are required. Position includes full benefit package, including health and dental insurance, KPERS retirement, vacation, sick leave and holidays with on-call pay when required.

A valid Kansas driver’s license with a good driving record is required with the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of hire. Starting rate of pay is $11.44 per hour, salary range $11.44 – $17.69, DOQ.

The City of Dodge City is accepting applications for the position of firefighter/EMT. Applications will be used to fill two (2) vacancies and to establish an eligibility list for future reference. Starting salary is $12.85 per hour ($37,419 annually) plus City benefit package, including single/family health insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and KP&F retirement program. Position responds to alarms and emergency medical calls to protect life and property, trains on and operates fire fighting and emergency response equipment and participates in fire prevention programs

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and must possess a high school degree or equivalency, valid state driver’s license, and Kansas or National Registry EMT certification. NFPA Firefighter I, II and Hazmat operations certifications preferred. Previous experience and bilingual skills preferred but not required. Applicants must be able to perform heavy physical work and a multitude of movements to perform duties of the position.

A $1,000 hiring bonus will be paid to new recruits, with $500 of the bonus paid upon completion of hire, and the remaining $500 of the hiring bonus paid after successful completion of Police Academy and Field Training.

Recruit officer’s starting wage: $16.46 per hour and $17.12 after one year of employment. Yearly pay increases with 13 year step plan. Lateral entry available based on experience. No experience is necessary. We will train qualified recruits!
