Maintenance Worker I, Utilities Department—Position is responsible for all repair, maintenance and minor construction of the water and sewer systems within the City of Dodge City. Duties will include but are not limited to installation of hydrants and services, maintaining chemical levels, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and meter reading. Physical work including lifting and manipulating up to 75 lbs will occur. A valid Kansas driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of hire.
Maintenance Worker I, Street Department– Position performs manual labor in the repair, maintenance and minor construction of City streets, and other duties as assigned in the Public Works Department. Involves snow and ice removal during winter months. One (1) year construction and maintenance experience using basic hand tools including but not limited to whacker-type compactor and pavement breaker is preferred. Physical work including lifting and manipulating up to 75 lbs will occur. A valid Kansas driver’s license and good driving record is required with the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of hire.
Maintenance Worker I, Athletic Field Maintenance Department– Position performs manual labor in grounds keeping and maintenance of sports facilities, turf and other duties as assigned. Duties require ability to professionally interact with citizens and to operate various types of equipment including mowers, chainsaws, power and hand tools, and trimmers. Irrigation (sprinkler system) experience preferred. Physical work including lifting and manipulating up to 50 lbs is required.
A valid Kansas driver’s license with good driving record is required. Starting rate of pay for maintenance worker positions is $11.44 per hour, DOQ.

The City of Dodge City is accepting applications for a regular full time Support Services Technician in the Police Department. Hours are 11:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. Starting wage rate for the position is: $12.02 per hour, plus shift differential of $.50 per hour. Position receives benefits which include family health insurance. Under general supervision, position is responsible for assisting officers with retrieval of information from databases; large volume of data entry; filing; and communicating, reviewing and maintaining records and reports. Position involves serving the public in a professional manner by communicating effectively to determine individual needs. Bilingual skills preferred but not required. May qualify for up to 7% bilingual pay after post-employment testing.
Position requires High School degree or equivalency. Ability to operate a computer and related software along with standard office equipment is required. Acceptable candidates must undergo an extensive background investigation, substantial testing, polygraph exam, physical exam and must be a U.S. Citizen.

Applications are being accepted for Police Officer with the City of Dodge City Police Department. Under general supervision, patrols an assigned beat and investigates incidents in the enforcement of law and order in the protection of life and property. Applications will be used to fill current vacancies and to form an eligibility list for future reference. Recruit officer’s salary, $15.68 per hour, increase to $16.46 upon completion of training and $17.12 after one year of employment. Yearly pay increases with 11 year step plan.
