Short Description: Under supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Information Technology, the Support Engineer is responsible for a wide range of activities related to the stable and efficient operation of workstation computing systems on which the College depends. The Support Engineer is familiar with, complies with, and at all times promotes the College’s policies and its directives related to information systems and technology.

Full Description: Essential Functions/Responsibilities
To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ Dodge City Community College provides a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.
Help diagnose system emergencies when they arise and persevere until they are resolved.
Day-to-day technical support activities include tasks such as computer setup and tear-down for office relocations and/or new hires. These tasks sometimes require a Support Engineer to work irregular hours.
Install software into production systems,
Install/Updates/Maintains student computer labs,
Assists with ordering of hardware and software, and conducting software audits,
Assists with conducting training programs; providing references and support for end-users,
Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information/data confidential.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Information Technology.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED is required.
General understanding of the various computing components and information systems in order to provide technical assistance
Problem solving
Process Improvement
Software Maintenance
Software Testing
Presenting technical information to end-users.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s Degree

Physical Requirements – With or without assistance
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Ability to speak clearly and audibly to students in person and on the telephone.
Ability to stretch, bend, stoop, and kneel as required to perform the duties of this position.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
