Short Description: Under the general supervision of the TRIO Director for Student Support Services & Talent Search Programs, the TRIO Programs Tutor Coordinator is responsible for working and coordinating all areas dealing with tutors for the TRIO Student Support Services & Talent Search Programs. This position will be supported financially by both TRIO Programs.

Full Description: Essential Functions and Responsibilities
•To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ Dodge City Community College provides a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.
•Outreaches, identifies and selects eligible TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) and Talent Search Program participants.
•Informs faculty, staff of the SSS & TS Program for goals and purposes.
•Assesses the academic, career, and personal needs of program participants.
•Manages and processes required documentation of services provided for tutoring program participants.
•Provides tutoring services as required.
•Identifies, recruits, selects, trains, and supervises SSS & TS Programs’ Tutors.
•Provides students with advice and assistance to encourage persistence, retention and success (graduation and/or transfer) at the certificate/diploma, associate degree, and baccalaureate degree levels.
•Provides referrals to other services when appropriate so as not to duplicate TRIO SSS/TS Programs services.
•Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
•Associate degree.
•A minimum of one (1) year experience working with educational programs at the college level.
•Proven ability to work with diverse populations including traditional and non-traditional students.
•Experience in providing tutorial services in group and individual settings.
•Must be skilled in effective techniques and methods of tutor training.
•Must maintain a valid Kansas driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in counseling, higher education administration or closely related field.
•Experience working with TRIO or similar programs.
•Familiar with or from a background similar to TRIO Program participants.
•Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Supervisory Responsibilities
•TRIO Student Support Services & Talent Search Programs’ Student Assistants.
•TRIO Student Support Services & Talent Search Programs’ Tutors.

Physical Requirements - with or without assistance.
•Data entry activities requires keyboarding and sitting for extended periods of time.
•Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds.
•Ability to speak clearly and audibly to students in person and on the telephone.
•Ability to stretch, bend, stoop, and kneel as required to perform the duties of this position.
•Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
