Short Description: Under direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing and Allied Health, the Clinical Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the para and nursing skills labs, including scheduling, and incorporating up-to-date technology. The Clinical Coordinator will facilitate the clinical learning experiences across all para and nursing pathways through the acquisition of suitable sites, assurance of appropriate orientation of faculty and students to the clinical sites. The Clinical Coordinator will engage in the professional work to advance the College’s mission by participating in institutional advancement, professional development, and community service in the pursuit of excellence.

Full Description: Essential Functions/Responsibilities
•To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ To provide a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.
•Collaborate with faculty to develop nursing scenarios to enhance student critical thinking skills.
•Network with clinical skills lab coordinators in local/state/national level to include simulator user group to share ideas, scenarios for human patient simulator, teaching tools, trends in the fields, ideas for grants, etc.
•Network with nursing education staff in local/regional clinical facilities to keep abreast of trends in the clinical areas.
•Travel for department, as required.
•Facilitate the general clinical operations of nursing programs and pathways.
•Assist in the acquisition of all clinical sites.
•Ensure that all affiliation agreements are complete.
•Negotiate new clinical sites to meet changing program needs.
•Submit all clinical requests and schedule sites for clinical education.
•Maintain awareness of clinical agency policies affecting the nursing department.
•Ensure that all students meet health, background checks, drug screening and all other requirements necessary for clinical attendance.
•Schedule student and faculty orientation to clinical sites.
•Maintain the filing of student clinical evaluations at the completion of each semester.
•Gather data regarding student and faculty satisfaction with clinical experience and share with Nursing Faculty and DON to be included in the Systematic Plan for Evaluation.
•Attend regular meetings of the faculty to facilitate communication and faculty participation in planning, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum.
•Ensure the implementation of clinical practice standards across all nursing pathways.
•Serve in a substitute teaching role if appropriate.
•Identify personal professional development needs and participate in professional development for continuous improvement.
•Maintain or attain appropriate certification, licensure, or credentials.
•Serve on department and college committees.
•Maintain placement sites for clinical or experiential learning for students as required by accreditation/approval standards.
•Demonstrate professionalism and provide quality customer service in accordance with the College’s values.
•Maintain positive working relationships, and make decisions and solve problems.
•Maintain confidentiality, positive communication, accurate records, and an organized, safe working environment.
•Exhibit flexibility, willingness to learn, ability to change, and maintain current technology skills.
•Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
•Associate’s Degree
•Excellent leadership and communication skills.
•Must have valid driver’s license.
•Proven ability to work with diverse populations including tradition and non-traditional students
•Strong computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications
•Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited program.
•Completion of an approved registered nursing education program.
•Knowledge of Nursing Skills.
•Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Kansas.
•Evidence of professional development in the field of Nursing.
•Skill in interpersonal and written communications.
•Ability to maintain current in clinical nursing practice.
•Ability to work with a diverse group of students
•Ability to establish and maintain collegial working relationships with nursing faculty.

Physical Requirements: With or without assistance
•Ability to occasionally carry supplies weighing 20-50 pounds.
•Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
•Ability to speak clearly and audibly directly with individuals and on the telephone.
•Ability to communicate clearly and precisely in written form and verbally.
•Motor skills and dexterity to access campus locations.
•Ability to bend, stoop and kneel as necessary to perform the responsibilities of this position.
