Job Title: Sports Coordinator

Short Description: The Dodge City Family YMCA is seeking an energetic and motivated Sports Coordinator to help deliver high-quality youth or adult sports programs that support the Y’s mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
This position assists with organizing leagues, coordinating volunteers and officials, communicating with participants and parents, and ensuring that programs reflect the YMCA’s values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The coordinator will work closely with the Sports Director to help implement engaging, safe, and inclusive sports experiences for all participants.

Full Description: Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in recreation, sports management, or education preferred.
• Experience in coaching, officiating, or coordinating sports programs preferred.
• Must be CPR and First Aid certified (or obtain within 90 days of hire).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of participants, parents, staff, and volunteers.
• Must demonstrate strong character and commitment to the YMCA’s mission and core values.
• Must be physically able to move freely throughout sports areas and lift up to 50 pounds.
ssential Functions
• Assist in coordinating youth or adult sports leagues, tournaments, and clinics.
• Recruit, train, and support volunteer coaches and officials.
• Communicate schedules, rules, and program updates to participants and parents.
• Help manage equipment inventory and ensure proper setup and care.
• Promote sportsmanship and the YMCA Sports Pledge in all programs.
• Assist in securing sponsorships and community support for sports events.
• Support YMCA special events, member engagement efforts, and campaigns as needed.
• Maintain accurate program records including participation and volunteer data.
• Serve as on-site supervisor during games or practices to ensure safety and quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Sports Director or CEO.

Required Certifications
• CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention (within first 90 days of employment).
Compensation
• Starting Rate: $14–$18/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
• Flexible part-time schedule; evenings and weekends required.
