Short Description: Under the supervision of the Vice President of Student Services and Risk Management, the Director of Residence Life/Judicial Affairs is responsible for all facets of residence hall management and campus judicial affairs. The director is responsible for the direct supervision of all residence life personnel, resident assistants, and four residential facilities with a maximum of 380 residents. The director is responsible for leadership and management of campus judicial affairs and student behavior. The director will develop and maintain a residential environment that is conducive to the overall development of students. The position is a non-live in position.

Full Description: Essential Functions/Responsibilities
To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ Dodge City Community College provides a student-centered learning environment where students can achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.
Directly supervise, train, and evaluate staff members.
Cooperate with Campus Security in all matters related to residence hall residents and the College campus.
Supervise the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of resident assistants.
Act as a role model and promote the development of a positive residential community.
Oversee and manage all residence hall budgets, monitor expenditures and collection of payments.
Administer discipline and ensure behavioral accountability of students.
Oversee the 24-hour, seven day per week on-call function in cooperation with Residence Life staff.
Coordinate and oversee overflow room accommodations with local hotels, including shuttle transportation.
Assist and support, along with Residence Life staff, the Student Activities Coordinator in developing and implementing campus wide student activities/intramurals.
Create and implement student activities for Residence Hall students.
Generate annual reports and other reports as requested.
Routinely tour the facilities and coordinate with facilities and operations staff on projects, repairs needed, and damage/replacement charges and billings.
Coordinate with maintenance to schedule cleanings and other maintenance during campus breaks.
Assist in developing short and long-range plans regarding Residence Life facilities.
Continually evaluate Residence Life Services and recommend changes to improve student life.
Represent Residence Life and maintain a positive relationship with all College departments and community members.
Manage room assignments and coordinate the move in/out process.
Oversee residence life record retention and collection from residents.
Manage and oversee all facets of the operations and processes of campus judicial affairs/student conduct.
Review and update annually policies and procedures related to the student code of conduct and judicial processes.
Review and update annually the campus Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program.
Act as a liaison to DCCC staff, faculty, administrators, and students for guidance on college judicial policies and processes.
Coordinate the College’s judicial processes; conducts hearings, issue sanctions for students who have allegedly violated Codes of Conduct.
Coordinate student disciplinary actions with College offices, such as, Residence Life, Administrators, the College Attorney, and/or Campus Security.
Handle Residence Life student crises and emergencies, to include referrals to appropriate medical and/or mental health professionals both on and off campus.
Provide information about Student Grievance procedure; may issue no-contact directives.
Evaluate and recommend updates for policies, procedures, educational opportunities, and issues of campus safety, tobacco, and alcohol and substance for campus programs and events.
Ensure compliance of College security policies on a daily basis in cooperation with Campus Security Director.
Maintain appropriate documentation regarding contacts with students.
Provide appropriate referrals regarding community-based resources.
Maintain confidentiality with regards to communications/conversations with students concerning problems, issues, or concerns.
Complete other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Services and Risk Management.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Supervisory experience
Computer skills – (Microsoft Office or similar programs)
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups
Must possess exceptional organizational skills
Must be willing to work as a team member in a high traffic area
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Evening and weekend work required
Not expected to live on campus, but must have quick access to campus
Must obtain and maintain a valid Kansas Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Education
Residence Life experience
Judicial experience

Physical Requirements with or without assistance
Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs. of materials and event equipment.

Ability to ambulate and navigate stairs and ramps throughout the campus complex.
