Full Description: Help Kansans. Build your skills. Build your career - without leaving your community.
You don't have to move to Topeka or leave your Kansas community to build a career with the State of Kansas.
The Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) is hiring Contact Center Representatives (CSR) across Kansas. This is an opportunity to serve Kansans, build valuable professional skills, and grow a career with the State of Kansas - all while continuing to live where you call home.
What does a CSR actually do?
You'll help Kansans navigate the unemployment process during times when they may be worried, frustrated, or uncertain about what comes next.
This is fast-paced, high-volume public service work. You'll talk with claimants throughout the day, answer questions, explain processes and policies, provide assistance navigating online systems, gather detailed information, and document your work accurately.
You may handle calls back-to-back for much of your workday. You'll spend much of your day working independently, using established procedures and available resources to find information and assist claimants.
The work can be challenging - but it matters.
Good service doesn't always mean giving someone the answer they want. It means listening, providing accurate information, explaining the process clearly, and helping people understand their options and next steps.
Could this be the right job for you?
We're looking for people who are dependable, professional, comfortable working independently, and willing to learn detailed processes.
You may be a great fit if you:
Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
Enjoy helping people understand complicated information
Can stay calm and professional when someone is frustrated or upset
Listen carefully and ask effective follow-up questions
Can follow written procedures and learn detailed processes
Pay close attention to detail and document information accurately
Are comfortable using multiple computer programs and screens
Can troubleshoot basic computer issues and learn new technology
Can stay focused and productive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Take pride in being dependable and maintaining strong attendance
This is an active contact center environment where calls may come back-to-back throughout the day. You'll need to stay focused, productive, and available throughout your scheduled work hours.
Build a career - not just a job
CSRs develop skills in communication, problem-solving, technology, research, documentation, and navigating complex programs and processes.
