The City of Dodge City is accepting applications for a regular part-time Animal Control Officer in the Animal Control Division (minimum of 20 hours per week). Starting pay is $12.02 per hour with part-time City Benefit Package including single health insurance. This part-time position will work Saturdays and Sundays and several hours on some week nights throughout the week.
Duties involve patrolling for and capturing stray animals to ensure public safety; responding to and resolving public complaints about strays; educating the public on animal care and containment; documenting calls and keeping accurate records in computer software; enforcing ordinances by issuing citations, oral and written warnings, cleaning vehicles and in the Animal Shelter, and other related duties.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required; valid Kansas driver’s license with good driving record; and a minimum of two years general experience in animal care, criminal justice and/or customer service. Must be able to lift and manipulate 75 pounds in order to perform the duties of this position.
