The City of Dodge City is accepting applications for Forestry/Horticulture student internships for the summer season. Internship positions will perform manual labor in the maintenance and care of trees and landscaping on city properties. Duties include: planting, mulching, weeding, watering, trimming with focus on the downtown and Wright Park areas; maintenance/cleaning of Hoover Pavilion; and trash/litter pickup. Some opportunities for horticulture design and urban forestry management are provided.
Working knowledge and/or educational background studies in forestry or horticulture desired. Must currently be enrolled in a course of study related to forestry, horticulture or related field. The paid internship starting wage is $10.00 per hour. Position will work a minimum of 30-40 hours per week. A valid driver’s license with good driving record required. Some intern housing opportunities available for early applicants at our local community college campus.
