COMMUNITY HOUSING ASSOCIATION OF DODGE CITY RECEIVES AMERIGROUP KANSAS CONTRIBUTION
(Dodge City, KS) – The Community Housing Association of Dodge City (CHAD) is pleased to announce it has received a $5,000 grant from Amerigroup Kansas. These funds will support the Community Home Renovation Program.
“Housing is an important determinant of health, having an inadequate home environment often results in a wide range of negative health conditions, and some Kansans just don’t have the means to make necessary home improvements,” said Amerigroup Kansas President Frank Clepper. “We are proud to team with the Community Housing Association of Dodge City to improve the lives of Kansans. This grant will ensure that local residents, who may need a little extra assistance, can create healthier homes and environments.”
The Community Home Renovation Program is designed to preserve the affordable housing stock, reduce blighted areas and encourage economic development in Dodge City. This program provides eligible low-income homeowners with the materials and labor to make critical home renovations such as plumbing, heating, electrical, window replacement and door replacement. The goal of the home renovation program is to encourage and assist residents to upgrade the conditions of their homes. This program is principally funded by Black Hills Energy.
In June 2017 the Community Home Renovation Program began accepting applications. The program has installed an air conditioner unit, replaced a roof, replaced windows and replaced rotting siding and trim. The repairs enhance the value and prolong the lifespan of homes while improving the neighborhood.
Applications can be downloaded from www.DodgeCityHousing.com or requested by calling 620-371-3869 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
