The  Controller implements financial policies and procedures and other internal controls to provide for the control and safeguard of hospital assets;  establishes and maintains appropriate accounting system to provide complete, timely, and accurate financial information;  provides financial analysis of operations to identify areas for cost reduction, improved cash flow, and revenue enhancement;  develops, implements, and maintains entire budgeting process including monitoring and reporting of hospital and department performance;  manages and directs the accounting and payroll departments to ensure that departments work closely together to effect a smooth, efficient, financial operation;  coordinates third party reimbursement functions, including acting as liaison with reimbursement consultant, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements relative to cost reports and other required reports, and monitoring of the computation of contractuals and other deductions.  Works closely with the Director of Information Services on issues impacting the financial operations of the hospital;  provides timely, complete, and accurate financial reports and analyses for presentation to the monthly Board Meeting;  acts as resource for department heads in projects needing financial analysis;  provides monthly report of status of capital expenditures compared to budget;  maintains commitment to personal development to improve professional and business skills;  develops and implements internal audit program which can be used to further ensure adequate controls are in place, and acts as liaison with audit firm to insure appropriate and complete information is provided;  hires, orients, supervises, trains (and/or ensures that training is provided) and evaluates the accounting/payroll department and staff;  represents the hospital in community and professional organizations related to financial management;  carries out special projects as assigned by the CEO and/or CFO relating to the financial operations of the hospital.

QUALIFICATIONSDegree: Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field.

Experience Required: Must have a minimum of five years experience in the field within an organization similar in size and scope of services.

Job Description

We assist in enrollment and billing services, while helping patients get the medical coverage, financial assistance and social services benefits they need.

Screens patients on-site at hospitals for eligibility assistance programs either bedside or in the ER. Provides information and reports to client contact(s), keeping them current on our progress.

Location:  Western Plains Medical Complex-Dodge City,KS-Must be bilingual

Schedule: Full-time     Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Reviews the hospital census to identify self-pay patients on a daily basis
  • Screens those patients who are in-house and are designated self-pay for state, county and/or Federal eligibility assistance programs
  • Begins the application process when possible
  • Identifies specific patient needs and direct them to the appropriate agency for assistance
  • Introduces the patients to Firstsource’s services and inform them that we will be contacting them on a regular basis about their progress
  • Provides transition for the Patient Account Representatives to develop a positive relationship with the patient
  • Legibly records all patient information on the designated in house screening sheet
  • Documents the results of the screening in the hospital computer system
  • Informs the designated hospital employee(s) of the availability of assistance for each patient in a timely manner
  • Identifies out-patient accounts from the census that are designated as self-pay
  • Prints a ledger for each outpatient account identified as self-pay.
  • Makes an attempt to reach the patient by telephone
  • Outside field work as required
  • Documents out-patient accounts when accepted in the hospital system

Job Requirements

 High School diploma or equivalent required

Must be bilingual

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required
  • Experience with medical assistance programs is desirable
  • Social service background or education is preferred
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be able to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time
  • Dress code and other policies may be different at each facility
  • Working on holidays or odd hours may be required at times
  • Must have updated verifiable references for the last 7 years

Do you have a few extra days, nights or weekends available and would like to make an additional income?  WPMC is currently looking for PRN Nurses to work on Med/Surg/Peds and in the Intensive Care Unit.  These positions provide delivery of patient care with the knowledge of a Registered Nurse.  Candidates must demonstrate the clinical ability to work as Primary RN on the Unit.    Candidates must be able to coordinates the delivery of patient care on the Unit; complete required documentation; participates in patient/family teaching and discharge planning, effectively utilizing the Nursing Process.  Must provide leadership by working cooperatively and effectively with physicians, ancillary staff and other administrative and support personnel in maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice in the multidisciplinary clinical setting.  Provides the basic leadership required of a Registered Nurse for subordinate staff on the Unit.  Maintains quality delivery of patient care by completing patient assignments in compliance with the Nursing Process, the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, JCAHO and State regulations and established Hospital Policies and Procedures.   Strives daily to give all customers very good care and promotes Western Plains Medical Complex’s Standards of Behavior and other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Food Services Worker prepares cold food items for patients in accordance with established procedures to ensure food quality; maintains a routine stock level of diet and regular cold items for use at any time; tallies cold food items, assembles/garnished trays for patients and cafeteria customers for effective presentations; rotates labels and date of perishable foods to maintain freshness of products; prepares sandwiches and deserts for cafeteria clients; set up and clean salad bar and desert area of cafeteria line; serves cold food on tray assembly line; utilized established menu portion sizes and guidelines; plans layout of salad bar for attractiveness and variety; varies the selection on the salad bar to maintain a new and different level of appeal; tries new recipes and/or new salads for the salad bar being mindful of the cost per serving; serves hot food to cafeteria clients and guest utilizing standard portion control and appropriate techniques to maintain sanitation; and performs other duties as assigned.

The Ultrasonographer/Echo Tech assists in maintenance/management of the radiology departmental service and Quality Improvement Plan in accordance with standards established by the hospital, JCAHO, state, local and federal regulatory agencies; performs and ensures patient safety while operating ultrasound machines and processes films;  assists in the maintenance of the Diagnostic Imaging Policy and Procedure Manuals and refers to policy and procedure manuals for proper operation/quality control of equipment;  assists physician in detection and localization of the patient’s anatomy using the appropriate technical factors, age specific positioning and shielding techniques appropriate for infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics;  utilizes appropriate knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet growth, development and continued clinical needs of all patients (newborns, pediatrics, adults and geriatrics);  assists/maintains stock levels, storage and safe keeping of films, files, chemicals, and patient supplies;  ensures cleanliness of equipment, work areas and assists in maintaining equipment in good working order and notifies supervisor of department equipment and supply needs;  assists in the orientation and training of new personnel and participates in continuing education programs to enhance skills and maintain credentials;  verifies doctors orders and patient ID when performing procedures;  checks for allergies to iodine/contrast medias when performing contrast studies;  labels films appropriately in regards to patient name, orientation of patient and technique utilized;  demonstrates proficiency in choosing proper dosing/equipment settings prior to x-ray procedures;  assures films/reports/patient chart is available to Radiologist/Physician;  and, performs other duties as assigned.
